BIKE HERO vol.4 Wayne Rainey
The Bike Hero series focuses on the world's top riders of the 80s and 90s.
The fourth one is Wayne Rainey, who rode with precision!
◆Main contents
Wayne Rainey joined the Yamaha GP250cc team formed by the retired Kenny Roberts in 1984, and made his world debut.
However, in this year, there was a race where the "push start", which was not familiar in the U.S., was tricky and ruined the qualifying position.
For three years from 1985, he competed in the AMA Superbike championship with Honda, and in 1987 he won the title after a fierce championship battle with Kevin Schwantz.
In 1988, he moved his battlefield to the world again and reappeared as a Yamaha 500cc rider for Team Roberts.
In the same year, he won his first GP championship, and in the following year, 1989, he competed with Eddie Lawson for the title, but failed to win the championship due to a regrettable crash at the end of the season.
In 1990-91, he and his lifelong rival, Schwantz, competed in a number of legendary races, winning the coveted world title and back-to-back championships.
In 1992, he dramatically won the title, which was thought to be impossible due to his injury, and became the first player since Roberts to win three consecutive titles.
While chasing his dream of a fourth consecutive victory, Rainey's brilliant career came to an abrupt end in Misano, Italy.
Rainey ended his racing career at the age of just 32, but...
At that time, he had already established himself as a great rider and a true motorcycle hero.
